Building on a Strong foundation:- Upgrades to the Prevue Assessment

Prevue Assessments will be celebrating their 20th anniversary in 2014. In that time we’ve seen a lot of things change and a lot stay the same. The constant has been the Assessments themselves. How and what we measure has stayed the same. The delivery method has been what’s changed the most. What started as pencil and paper tests has now evolved to a fluid online delivery system.

But much like a house, you can renovate, redecorate, and paint the outside; but at some point you need to inspect the framing and foundation. We put our Assessments under internal and 3rd party review to make sure we were building things properly. And who knows, we may want to add a pool in soon.

The Foundation

The foundation of the Prevue Assessment System is the Prevue Assessments comprised of the Prevue Abilities test, the Prevue Interest Assessment, and the Prevue Personality Assessment. Our psychometrists were asked to advise if there was any reason for us to change or modify that method of measuring job fit. The psychometrists confirmed the foundation for the Prevue Assessment System is solid.

There really is no more effective way to measure potential job fit than measures of abilities, interests, and personality traits that are utilized by the Prevue Assessments. This provides a whole person approach to assessment that accords with best practices documented in Testing and Assessment: An Employer’s Guide to Good Practices published by the US Department of Labor. Although we do plan to develop and add new assessment measures to the Prevue Assessment System during the next two to three years, the core offering, or foundation, will remain the same.

The Service Systems

The Prevue Assessment System has service delivery systems like and that are similar to electrical and plumbing systems in your home. We have examined these systems carefully and concluded that upgrades to test administration through should be made to improve the testing experience.

Over 98% of all Prevue Assessments are now administered online. Pencil and paper administration has been reduced to less than 2% of test administration and installed software administration is all but extinct. Upgrades to test administration will be implemented before the end of this year. The announcement containing particulars of the test administration upgrades should be made within the next two weeks.

Norm and Scoring Upgrades

Our psychometrists recently completed a major international norm study to review the international norms utilized by the Prevue Assessments as well as the fairness of the scoring algorithms. The norms for the Prevue Assessments will be updated in the first quarter of 2013 reflecting changes arising out of the rapid transition to online testing and some minor changes will be made to the calculation of test takers’ sten scores and job suitability scores. Details of these changes will be circulated over the next two to three months.

System Decoration

As noted above, most of our development efforts in the past 10 years have been focused on developing the fully online Prevue Assessment System and integrating the Prevue Assessments into our Applicant Tracking System, the ATS Pro.

Much like your interior decorating, we need to stay current and update the look of our reports. We want the reports we supply to companies and consultants to look as well as they function. All of the current reports are to be redesigned with new graphics and revised layouts in the first half of 2013. The reports will also be reorganized into families to provide more flexibility in pricing for Prevue Users. The new reports will be easier to read and navigate.

New Additions

We thought we should add a new room, to continue with our analogy. Our renovation will include an addition to the family of Prevue reports. Two new reports will be added in the first half of 2013:

  1. A candidate snapshot report that provides Prevue users with a report on a candidate without reference to a benchmark. This fills a request we receive frequently from both Prevue users and Prevue distributors.
  2. A short one-page Prevue screen report that will provide basic measure of personality fit in the course of screening job applicants. This report will be driven from the Prevue short-form personality assessment, which is comprised of 48 questions drawn from the full Prevue personality inventory.

Review and Update of Text

The final and maybe most important stage of renovations to the Prevue Assessment System will be the review and updating of the text in the Prevue reports. We have recently completed development of a Prevue report development platform that simplifies the laborious task of amending text in Prevue reports and translating reports to other languages. We will be asking for your thoughts and ideas on changes you think should be made to Prevue reports text in the first half of 2013.

Like any building project, these upgrades will take time. We’ll be rolling out these upgrades gradually and will keep you informed every step of the way. We’ll also be asking for suggestions, to try and make our system as user friendly as possible. When we turn 20 in 2014, we’ll be celebrating with a fully upgraded Assessments System.
